HP to showcase at NERFA Conference

HP is honored to have been selected for a formal showcase at this year's NERFA Conference. According to NERFA.org, HP was selected from among "200 applicants to perform in the juried Formal Showcase during the 19th Annual Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) Conference at the Hudson Valley Resort in Kerhonkson, NY, Nov. 7-10. With only 14 artists/acts chosen for 15-minute performance slots on Friday and Saturday nights, the Formal Showcase is the premiere and most coveted performance opportunity at the conference. Formal Showcases take place in the resort’s Manhattan Theater between 7 and 9:30 p.m. each night, and nothing else is allowed to compete with them."
Can't wait to jam with all the folkies!

Announcing the First Annual Northeast String Workshops with Hickory Project

Mindworks Music Productions is pleased to announce the First Annual Northeast String Workshop this August 27, 28, and 29 at the Dietrich Theater in Tunkhannock, PA.  The workshop will feature all day instruction on mandolin, fiddle, and guitar. This will be a great opportunity for musicians of all skill levels to learn from today’s best.

Each day will be jam packed with over five (5) hours of instruction covering a wide range of topics and one-on-ones with the instructors. The workshop will help everyone improve their playing, get comfortable in a jam session, and know their instrument a lot better. Jam sessions will be held real time on site. This will be a great opportunity to immediately apply what you are learning.

Mindworks Music is excited that members of Hickory Project are leading this year’s workshop. The instructors are Anthony Hannigan (mandolin), Coleman Smith (fiddle), and Mark Morris (guitar). Hickory Project has taught at some of the most prestigious workshops and camps including Rocky Grass Academy in Lyons, CO, the Augusta Heritage Center in Elkins, WV, and La Roche Bluegrass Workshops in La Roche, France. Bluegrass Unlimited has said that Hickory Project “…is a band with huge firepower at its disposal. Hannigan ... leaves no doubt why he's one of the best mandolinsts around, peppering his solos with style, speed, and soul."

Mindworks Music will also be hosting the First Annual Cornstock Acoustic Music Fest at Lazy Brook Park in Tunkhannock, PA August 30, 31, and September 1.  Workshop attendees qualify for half-price weekend passes to the event: $20 for a weekend pass before August 15 or $25 after August 15. Visit http://cornstockfestival.com for more info about the festival.

Cost of the workshop is $250 for all three days or $100 per day. Space is limited. Students may sign up for more than one instrument for no extra charge.
